Lloyd A. Myers' Career Timeline
Lloyd Myers, AIA, has over 40 years of experience in architecture, design management, and planning. As a visionary and strategic planner, he brings a wealth of award-winning innovation and creativity to these disciplines. Here's how his career progressed over the decades.
1981
Lloyd's career commenced as an architectural intern with the award-winning firm of Perez Associates of New Orleans in 1981.1985
After completing his professional licensure in 1985, Lloyd formed a planning and design firm with urban planner Robert Tannen, which they operated from 1985 to 1989.1988
Before moving to Atlanta in 1988, Lloyd was recruited by The Rouse Company to manage the design of three urban marketplaces: the Riverwalk in New Orleans, Jacksonville Landing in Florida, and Underground in Atlanta. Each development required a fresh look at our cities' struggling urban core and provided an integral venue for market and entertainment in a formerly neglected property.
His responsibilities included leasing concept development for tenant spaces, design criteria, design approval, base building coordination, liaison with architectural consultants, and construction supervision.1990
From 1990 to 1998, LAM Design, Inc. continued serving the Atlanta community with urban design, community redevelopment, multifamily development, and retail project services.
1991
Myers provided his retail planning and programming expertise to Disney Development Company for Disney's Boardwalk in 1991. Projects during these years featured the award-winning Atlanta University Center's west-side pedestrian corridor system. Myers played a significant role in completing the six-mile promenade connecting three major mass transit stations to three Olympic venue sites, several historic urban neighborhoods, and six historical African-American colleges and universities.
Lloyd's firm also co-designed the Olympic Village on Georgia Tech's campus and the Ralph D. Abernathy Corridor and Commemorative Park adjacent to the Atlanta Braves stadium.2000
Beginning in 2000, Lloyd directed his talents to airport concessions work in Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Charlotte, Washington DC, Miami, and San Diego. The transportation-related retail and restaurant design received Lloyd's focus from 2000 to 2012. His design teams designed 20 stores and restaurants, including Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint, an airport restaurant, Sojourner's Seafood, TGI Friday's, Coffee Beanery, and Purple Leaf Café.2012
Since 2012, Lloyd has expanded his range of projects to include multifamily, retail, mixed-use, offices, churches, restaurants, and entertainment venues. His innate ability to build consensus, orchestrate design teams, and arrive at timely, functional, and sustainable design solutions has kept his company in constant demand.
"Our mission is to take a measured amount of "ownership" in each of our projects so that our level of service and quality of project delivery remains high and in keeping with Best Practices of Architecture." Lloyd Myers
